Dr Maria Ioannou

Maria obtained her undergraduate degree in Psychology, Philosophy and Pedagogics from the University of Ioannina, Greece in 2000. In 2001 she completed her MSc in Investigative Psychology at the University of Liverpool. Her dissertation was on The Experience of Crime focused on the roles and emotions offenders experience while they are committing their crimes. Her research on the Experience of Crime was the basis for her doctorate, completed in 2006. Other areas of research interest include stalking, sex offences and homicide.

Maria was funded by Liverpool City Council to evaluate the 'Youth At Risk' project and she is the Editorial Assistant of the Journal of Investigative Psychology.

She is currently a research fellow at the Centre for Investigative Psychology, where she continues to research many different aspects of criminal behaviour and offenders' experiences of crime.
