Report year numbers | student gender | student nationality student background | dissertation | careers | tables MSc Investigative Psychology - The First
105 Graduates. Dissertations from the previous years (92/93 to 98/99 inclusive)
were looked at to determine any trends. The first graph shows the two
main areas of research within Investigative Psychology, criminal actions
and investigative processes. Most of the previous dissertations were on
criminal actions (total of 84), with a steady increase every year. There
were considerably fewer on investigative actions (total of 21), shown
by the lower gradient, which increased slightly between 96/97 and 98/99.
The total number of dissertations done on investigative processes of 21
was nearly reached by only the second year 93/94 with criminal actions
dissertations already numbering 20.
The graph below shows the seven most popular dissertation topics, with a clear preference for criminal actions topics, as discussed above. Between 92/93 to 95/96 murder, child abuse, armed robbery, geography and decision making remained fairly constant. However after this there was a large increase in dissertations on murder, reflected by the increase in the gradient. The topics of rape and burglary were the most frequently studied topics during the mid-years, but caught up by murder in 98/99. Figure 7: Cumulative sum of dissertation topic by 1st year of study |
