MSc Investigative Psychology - The First 105 Graduates.

Background

The nature of the course enables Social Science graduates to mix with Police Officers and other Law Enforcement personnel. This creates an environment whereby professionals from the field develop academic practices from the structured element of the course and through interaction with those students with a university background. This flow of information is a two way process that also benefits those with limited practical experience, to gain knowledge of the field. This unique environment is mutually beneficial, and sets the standard for the realm of Investigative Psychology.

The backgrounds of students can be classified in three ways:
1) Psychology Graduates from the UK.
2) Other Graduates, including those holding Psychology degrees from foreign universities.
3) Law Enforcement Professionals, employed or otherwise.

Below is a chart of how these three groups have attended on the course. It illustrates the general trends in the type of students who have attended the course. The number of police has diminished over the period, where they once were the majority, although there has been an increase in recent years. Psychology graduates from the UK now make up over half the total.
