Official accreditation and recognition of the MSc in Investigative Psychology The British Psychological Society have accredited the MSc in Investigative Psychology as a basis for chartered status as a Chartered Forensic Psychologist, being the first year of that professional training. This only applies to people who have Graduate Basis for Registration as a psychologist when they join the course. A subsequent two years are necessary of supervised placement as a forensic psychologist to achieve chartered status. The course is also recognised by the ESRC for Research Training and Specialism, being the only forensically oriented course in the country that has such dual recognition. In the recent Teaching Quality Assessment carried out by the Higher Education Funding Council the course was recorded as being 'outstanding' and 'innovative'. It has been recognised by other psychological associations around the world in relation to particular students.
