Becoming a Chartered Psychologist

To become a Chartered Psychologist in the Forensic area, you need to
complete three stages.

1. You need to obtain an Undergraduate Degree in Psychology recognised by
the British Psychological Society (BPS) as a basis for Graduate
Registration (GBR) with them.

2. You need to complete a Master's Degree in the appropriate area that is
accredited by the BPS. Our MSc in Investigative Psychology is currently
accredited but the FBS MSc is not at the moment.

3. You need to complete a further two years of supervised professional
practice. Currently there are no formal programmes incorporating this, so
it is generally organised on an individual basis.

At present not many jobs actually require you to be a Chartered
Psychologist, but it is assumed that, in the future, more will require that.

Further information is available from the BPS www site -
